Jamorama – My Updated Review

Why Update My Jamorama Review?

While looking for the best way to learn guitar, I found Jamorama, and I highly recommend it.

After an overwhelming response from my review of Jamorama, I decided I would go into a little more detail about what I specifically like about the program.  I received a ton of comments and emails asking questions so I decided to set up this site to help people decide if Jamorama is the right program for them.  If you missed it, I’ve posted my original Jamorama Review so that you can read a little bit about me and why I bought the course.  I also wanted to update my review because I’ve been using it for a while longer now, and I can really go into detail about what exactly makes Jamorama great.

Just a little background about me, I found Jamorama after struggling with trying to teach myself guitar.  I found the online tabs and lessons to be to difficult to replicate without help.  Private lessons were out of the question with prices around $50 per lesson.  For less than the cost of one private lesson, I purchased the Jamorama course and I couldn’t be happier.  I’ve been learning steadily for about 5 months, and I can now play most songs with or without the music to play along to.

What’s Different About Jamorama?

Structure - What makes Jamorama so much better than any other guitar lessons I’ve seen is the way they organize so much information into one package.  Imagine trying to contain all of the knowledge that is necessary to go from a beginner to being able to hear a song on the radio, pick up any guitar and play it.  Granted, a lot of that skill comes from dedication to practice on your part, but if you have the blueprint right in front of you, why wouldn’t you succeed?

Media Rich - The way Jamorama uses text, video, and audio files, you are really able to immerse yourself in Jamorama music.  Basically it works like this:You read about a particular lesson to gain an understanding of it.You watch a video of a professional performing the lesson. You play along with an audio track to practice it over and over.

Playing along with the Jamorama Jamtracks is so much more fun than memorizing charts and chords that you don’t have to force yourself to practice.  You get excited everyday to play guitar with the band.

Price – Jamorama would easily be worth $50 per month in my book, but the fact that it’s $50 one time with no extra fees makes it impossible not to try.  There’s not even a time limit on the course or lessons themselves.  Take as little or as long as you need for one flat fee.

What Do You Like Most About Jamorama?

This is the question I get asked most.  People want to know why I care so much about Jamorama that I would set up this site. Aside from everything mentioned above, there are a few things that I think make Jamorama really stand out from any other guitar teaching course or software.  These are just a few of my favorite features and benefits of Jamorama:

The Top 5 Reasons To Buy Jamorama

  1. Actual Guitar Neck Chord Charts – Unlike most online guitar lessons that use boring staffs or grids to show the notes you should play on the guitar, Jamorama uses an actual photo of a guitar neck and then layers what fingers you should use right on top.  This makes it much easier to read, understand, learn, and memorize new chords.  This alone makes it worth the money.
  2. Jamorama Jamtracks - After you work through each lesson, there is something called a Jamtrack to help you practice what you’ve learned.  Basically Jamorama has recorded full songs in the studio both with and without the guitar parts so you can play along in a real band.  The best part is it starts with lesson one.  The complexity of the songs build up as you go further through the lessons.
  3. Video Lessons – Along with each written lesson there is at least one (sometimes more) video showing you exactly how to play what you just learned.  One thing I hate about teaching yourself is the chance you are practicing something wrong.  Jamorama takes care of this problem with 148 high quality videos.
  4. Emphasis On Sight Reading – There are a lot of guitarists out there who couldn’t read a sheet of music if they tried.  Basically they memorize the chords to songs and play only what they know.  Jamorama gives you the ability to read music and actually suggests you find lots of sheet music to practice.  That way you don’t have to practice and memorize each song you want to learn.  You can read it off a page just like this one and play it flawlessly the first time.
  5. Instant Access – I also really liked that I didn’t have to wait after I purchased Jamorama.  Within minutes of buying I was learning my first chords.  Everything is layed out very organized on a private members-only Jamorama website.  And best of all there is NO subscription costs, so you can keep coming back over and over.

Is There Anything You Don’t Like About Jamorama?

This wouldn’t be an honest review if I didn’t tell you a few things I think could be improved with Jamorama.  I should say that neither of my two complaints really effect how well you learn guitar, but a couple of things would have been nice to see.

  • No Host On the Videos – If I could change one thing about Jamorama I would have added a little bit of personality to the videos.  As they are now, they jump right into the chords which is great.  But, I would have liked to see the guitar player’s face and maybe even hear some tips from him about each particular chord in the videos.  Not a deal breaker by any means, but it would have been a nice touch.
  • Recognizable Jamtracks – I understand that in the beginning of the Jamorama lessons, the songs need to be simple enough for new guitarists to play along to.  But, towards the end of the advanced lessons it would be cool to play along to a few popular songs without the guitar tracks.  As far as I could tell all of the Jamtracks were original to Jamorama.

Conclusion

Overall, I highly recommend Jamorama to anyone who wants to learn guitar. Jamorama will help you achieve whatever your goal is whether it be for fun, to start a music career, to impress friends, to entertain at parties, or to play at your local bar on Tuesday nights.  The amount of information they pack into such an affordable package literally cannot be beat.  And, with their money back guarantee and free trial lessons there’s really nothing to lose.

I can say with confidence now after almost finishing Jamorama that “I play guitar.”  I’ve already had so much fun with it, I recommend Jamorama to all of my friends who ask how I learned so fast.

JAMORAMA PERSONAL REVIEW

A GENUINE Jamorama Review

While looking for the best way to learn guitar, I found Jamorama, and I highly recommend it.

When I first read about the Jamorama guitar system, I was a little skeptical because I had tried free online guitar lessons before but I couldn’t stay motivated enough to follow through and actually learn the guitar.  I couldn’t afford a private tutor for $50 dollars per lesson, but I still wanted to be able to play songs with my friends, or be able to pick up a guitar at a party and entertain everyone.  I tried learning tabs online but it was very hard, and my songs never sounded like the real thing.  Jamorama seemed to have a large following of happy customers, and for the price if I could actually learn to play guitar it would be totally worth it.

I got excited about learning guitar again so I decided I would give Jamorama a try.  I am so happy I bought the Jamorama guitar system.  It’s only been a couple of months, but I am so comfortable with chords now that I am able to play along with most of my favorite songs.  Don’t get me wrong, there are a lot of songs that move to fast for me, but a lot of my favorite songs are actually really easy!

I decided to write this review of Jamorama because I know I personally have a lot of trouble ordering something online, especially something that isn’t physically real, like lessons.  Let me tell you, this was the best money I’ve ever spent online.  Jamorama is so much different than any other lesson, tutorial, or schooling I’ve tried because it is laid out so simply.  There is no fluff or page fillers needed because there is so much information.

Everything with Jamorama is practical and right to the point so you can maximize your practice time.  With 52 lessons, there is technically a years worth of material for one flat fee and no monthly subscription.  I didn’t the fact that many online guitar lessons charge you monthly.  Basically for the cost of one lesson with a private tutor, with Jamorama you get an entire years worth of material that you can take at your own pace.  (I personally am about halfway through Jamorama in under 4 months, but I’m a fast learner and I had a little music experience.)

What’s Inside The Jamorama Book

After buying Jamaorama, I was immediately taken to the private members website where they had all of the books, videos, play-along tracks, and bonuses all in one place.  I liked that I didn’t have to wait for any kind of shipping, I was playing the guitar within 3 minutes of buying Jamorama.

For those that don’t know, Jamorama starts you off at the very beginning.  Although they don’t spend more than a couple of pages teaching music theory and guitar parts it is nice that they include it for you to reference later.   By the 3rd or 4th page, they dive right in to your very first chord.

What I liked most about Jamorama is the fact they use pictures of real guitar necks and fingers to show you chords, not just boring charts.

Within minutes of opening the book, I was playing my first real chord.  I had messed around on the guitar before, but for the first time I played something that sounded real.  It wasn’t just a bunch of buzzes and out of tune notes.  (By the way, Jamorama includes an online guitar tuner and a separate bonus book all about tuning your guitar properly.)

Jamorama is set up so that you read through one lesson in the book, and then watch the video of a professional playing the chords you just read about.  The videos have three views:

  • one of the playing hand
  • one of the strumming hand
  • and one of the chord chart showing you exactly what to play

After mastering each lesson, Jamorama includes something called Jamtracks which are basically two versions of a song with a full band.  The first version has the guitar playing so you can hear how it should sound, and the second has the guitar track muted so you can play along in a real band.  I was literally playing guitar in the band in less than a week.  (The songs are really basic though in the beginning.)

Does Jamorama Work?

Jamorama has two levels included, beginner and advanced.  They offer an even more advanced course after you complete the first two levels, but I am not there yet.  I am just about finished with the beginner course of Jamorama and my playing has improved so much my friends are already jealous of my skill.

But you should know, that I practice at least 15 minutes everyday with Jamorama.  This product isn’t a shortcut to learning guitar, and it’s not a magic pill.  You still have to have the patience and determination to practice everyday with Jamorama or you won’t be as good as you could.  However, Jamorama takes learning guitar to a different level.  Before when I would practice, it meant staring at chord charts trying to memorize finger numbers.  With Jamorama I get to play along with the videos and songs whenever I want.  It’s much more fun this way.

What Bonuses Come With Jamorama?

There are a few bonuses that come for free with Jamorama that are pretty much worth the price of the course by themselves.  The two I have used the most is the tuning software, and the metronome.  I use these two things everyday that I practice and I would be worse off if I didn’t have them.  I also appreciated learning how to properly tune a guitar with the free lesson book.  My guitar sounds better now then when I was using a plug in tuner.

The other Jamorama bonuses I haven’t used much, but I want to very soon.  Guitearit, and Jayde Music Pro are both pieces of software to help you become a professional musician.  One helps you hear music notes by ear, and the other helps you learn the music notes on the staff.  I am too busy to use these right now, but I’ve tried them and they are awesome.  I am especially excited to practice playing by ear, although I want to set the foundation first by learning how to properly read music, which is exactly what Jamorama teaches.

If you have any questions about me, be sure to check out the about Jamorama page. After writing this review I received many emails from people thanking me for the recommendation, so clearly Jamorama must work.
